On the night of Sunday, September 27, 2026, a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Georgia Highway 31 and Springhaven Road in Laurens County claimed the life of Ella Jenkins. She was 18. According to the Georgia State Patrol, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

I represent Ella’s family. If you were near that intersection that night, or if you have any information about the crash, my office can be reached at 770-744-5250 or [email protected]. We also ask that the family’s privacy be respected as they grieve.

Ella grew up in Gray and graduated from Jones County High School with the Class of 2026. She had just started her freshman year at Brewton-Parker Christian University in Mount Vernon, where she played softball for the Lady Barons and was studying occupational therapy. Her high school remembered her simply: “a classmate, softball teammate, friend, and forever a Greyhound.”

Softball is a big part of my life too. I’m a softball booster and the dad of four daughters who play travel ball, and this community is close. When one of our own is lost, all of us feel it. My thoughts are with Ella’s family, her teammates at Jones County and Brewton-Parker, and everyone who loved her.

Ella’s family has suggested that memorial gifts be made to Brewton-Parker Christian University Softball.
